Batterers Intervention Program (BIP)

BIP serves residents of Jasper and Newton counties through the Rensselaer location. BIP is a 26 week comprehensive community based program for intervention in domestic abuse cases. BIP focuses on victim safety as the first priority, establishing accountability for batterers and promoting a coordinated community response to domestic violence.

The program is designed to help participants in the following ways:

  • Gain practical information on how to change abusive and controlling behavior
  • Increase willingness to change abusive behavior
  • Develop understanding that acts of violence can be related to attempts to maintain control over partners

Any adult male with a history of domestic violence is welcome to attend. Participants in the program must be 18 or older and can be court ordered or mandated by DCS to attend. The cost is $25 per class. Additional fees apply.
